Scope of application

Due to its low thickness and durability, floorino can be used almost anywhere where you want to lay parquet or laminate flooring.

Installed floating above the footfall sound insulation, hardly any space is required at the top. No additional exhaust systems or chimneys are required. In principle, all that is required is a floor and a power connection, but you must take into account which floor covering is then laid over the floorino heating foil.

floorino heating foil can be used especially well in...?

Due to the effect of infrared radiation, the air in the room is not heated directly. Instead, the objects in the room heat up from the inside and only then give off this heat to the air in the room. (You can find out more about how it works in the section "Functionality"). This makes the floorino heating foil also ideally suited for use in frequently ventilated rooms or rooms with large windows, e.g. conservatories.

As a rule, a lot of heat energy is lost when, for example, air is exchanged by opening a window or door. The warm air is replaced with cold air and it takes some time for it to warm up again. As soon as a door or window is opened again, the heating process starts all over again.

Since the floorino heating foil heats the objects directly, the temperature of the air in the room is not important to feel comfortable and warm. This is one of the reasons why floorino underfloor heating is so energy efficient. It is not necessary to heat all the air in the room to create a comfortable temperature. Energy and money are saved

Can the floorino heating foil be laid under carpets, PVC/linoleum or cork?

Basically, carpets, PVC/linoleum or cork are too soft to ensure that the topmost layers of floorino are not damaged too much after years of use. Movements on the surface will cause the heating foil and the carpet or PVC or cork to rub against each other to a small extent, which can cause wear of the foil.

In addition, high point loads or falling objects such as a knife can damage the foil. Here there is still a possibility to not have to do without effective heating with floorino.

How exactly you should proceed in such a case during planning and installation can be found here or in the category planning/installation

Can the floorino heating foil be laid underneath tiles?

Although tiles usually have hardly any influence on the heating effect of the infrared rays, it is unfortunately no longer possible to attach the tiles to the vapour barrier film due to the prescribed structure and thus their use in tiled rooms is ruled out.

In summary,

floorino can be used wherever you can also lay laminate or parquet flooring. For linoleum, carpets, etc. a slightly different structure is required.

The film is particularly worthwhile in strongly ventilated rooms with large window fronts. Unfortunately, floorino underfloor heating is completely unsuitable for tiled surfaces.

Healthy living & heating

Why is this system particularly suitable for people who suffer from asthma, allergies or rheumatism?

This fact can easily be illustrated with an example: When you turn on a conventional heating system, hot water heats a radiator. The radiator in turn releases its energy into the air in the form of heat and thus heats the room. Objects and living beings in the room are thus heated indirectly (water->radiator->air->objects and living beings).

And this is exactly the reason why conventional heating systems have three health problems:

  1. It's well known, warm air rises upward and cold air falls down correspondingly. This results circulation of air, which takes place throughout the room. As a result, e.g. house dust, animal hair, mites and other tiny particles, which can cause allergies and asthma, are constantly whirled around (see illustration on the right). This does not happen with an infrared system. As already introduced in the section "Functionality/ What is infrared", floorino underfloor heating does not indirectly heat the air, but rather heats objects and bodies within a room directly.
  2. By heating the air, it is simultaneously dried out. This produces the familiar dry heating air. Most people find this very unpleasant and it is hardly reasonable for people with bronchial or other respiratory diseases.
  3. In addition, the water previously bound in the air condenses on ceilings and walls and causes them to become damp, which greatly promotes the development of mould.

All the problems mentioned cannot occur with floorino underfloor heating due to its mode of operation.

People with joint problems, rheumatism or even athletes appreciate the beneficial and healing effect of infrared rays. Often the effect is also part of therapies. The body is warmed up to the deep tissue in a pleasant way, which leads to a relaxation of the musculature. Because the skin registers an increase in heat at this point, the blood circulation and the circulation is stimulated. This accelerates the healing of scars, sprains, contusions and inflammations.

The regeneration after sports is also promoted by the radiation. The entire musculature and especially that of the back relaxes. The metabolism is also stimulated by the improved blood circulation. Thanks to the infrared radiation, certain back problems and regular tensions can be alleviated. As a new trend in this area, hotels, swimming pools, training and therapy areas often have an infrared sauna.

It is an interesting fact that about 50% of the heat energy that can be felt on earth by the sun consists of infrared radiation. Without this infrared radiation, the life we know could not exist on this planet. This is therefore the most natural way to heat, because the sun has been shining on the earth for millions of years. In principle, floorino infrared underfloor heating copies the method of the sun and fire. It produces the same energy in small quantities and the whole thing even in your own four walls.

Apart from the desired infrared radiation, there are no emissions with the floorino heating foil in contrast to conventional oil, pellet or gas heating systems. Also electric smog does not arise.

If the floorino underfloor heating were to be operated with solar power, heating could be free of charge and at the same time protect the environment. If you use electricity from renewable sources such as biomass or solar energy, the floorino heating foil is the most environmentally friendly heating system currently known in the world due to its durability and high efficiency.

The medical applications of infrared technology presented above cannot, of course, be replaced by floorino underfloor heating, as this is primarily a heating system. However, the fact remains that people benefit from the effects of infrared radiation in terms of health and that a conventional heating system cannot offer the advantages mentioned above.

In conclusion, it can be said that the use of floorino infrared underfloor heating even promotes health, and not only for people with health problems. Even completely healthy people benefit from infrared technology.

Reduce heating costs

floorino underfloor heating is particularly energy and cost efficient for the following reasons, among others:

  • Economical heating possible (targeted heating of specific areas as well as time-controlled switching on and off of the system)
  • Low energy consumption (30 to 50 % energy saving compared to conventional heating methods)
  • Low purchase price (significantly cheaper than conventional heating methods)
  • Low consumption and operating costs
  • Easy installation (no specialist is required for installation. Whoever can lay laminate, parquet, etc. can also lay the floorino underfloor heating)
  • Extreme longevity and absence of follow-up costs due to maintenance, repair, etc.
  • Frequent air exchange has little influence on the sensation of heat

As can be seen in the section "How it works", the special thing about infrared radiation is the way in which it generates heat. Not the air but the objects inside a room are heated. This means that floorino underfloor heating creates a pleasant feeling of warmth in the room despite the relatively cooler air. This means that with less power, a warm feeling can be created for which oil and gas heating systems, but also conventional water-bearing underfloor heating systems have to heat the room more and therefore require considerably more energy.

Since, as already mentioned, the air is not heated first, but rather the objects and bodies are heated directly, a frequent exchange of air, e.g. by opening a window or a door, plays only a subordinate role. Not much more energy is needed to bring the room back to a comfortable temperature.

Heating costs can be reduced even further thanks to the possibility of heating specific areas in a targeted manner. For example, you could heat only the area around your reading chair or around your dog's basket. In your living area there is still a pleasant temperature despite the minimal performance of the system.

Heating is completely carefree and efficient with the TE-170 control system. With its help, you can program only the areas you need, precisely to the degree and time-controlled. For example, the kitchen is only heated continuously during mealtimes, or the bedroom is only heated in the evening when you are actually using it.

But don't worry, due to the extremely short reaction time of the system and its fast heating of the room, even more spontaneous bedroom use is no problem...

Despite the low level of awareness of this method of heating, it is very reliable and much more effective than gas or oil based heating.

Between 01.10.2008. and 30.04.2009 a test was carried out at the Technical University in Kaiserslautern under the direction of Dr.-Ing. Peter Kosack. The aim was to compare a gas heating system with an infrared heating system within an old building with regard to energy consumption. The experiment showed that, when used correctly, an infrared heating system offers significant advantages in terms of energy consumption, costs and CO2 balance. The fact is that infrared heating consumes between 30 and 50% less energy than modern gas heating and emits about 18% less CO2.

The floorino brand stands for the highest standards of life and product quality. For this reason, a lifetime guarantee is given for the durability of the system and its function, which you will not find with any other system. After correct installation, you no longer need to worry about floorino underfloor heating. You can find more about this topic in the "About us" section.

Functionality

As already mentioned, the floorino heating foil is a so-called infrared surface heating. The foil generates these rays only with the help of electricity, without producing any CO² emissions, noise or vibrations. In order to better understand how it works, the meaning of infrared is explained below.

In physics, infrared radiation is electromagnetic waves in the spectral range between visible light and microwave radiation. Natural sources of infrared radiation are, for example, the sun or fire. The infrared portion of solar radiation reaching the earth's surface is about 50%.

Open fire radiates mainly in the infrared range and only slightly in the visible range. It is easy to see what kind of heat is generated by floorino underfloor heating. A large proportion of the warmth sensation generated by a fire comes from infrared radiation, the same principle that is used by floorino underfloor heating.

For the first time in 1800, the German astronomer William Herschel succeeded in detecting infrared radiation by heating a blackened bottle. Every "warm" body (that is every body with a temperature above absolute zero of about -273° C) emits infrared radiation. The amount of energy emitted and the wavelength distribution of the radiation depend on the temperature of the body. The warmer a body is, the more energy it emits in the form of infrared radiation and the shorter the wavelength of the radiation. In rooms with tiled and basic stoves or infrared radiant heaters, therefore, a particularly high proportion of long-wave infrared radiation is found, combined with a high level of comfort.

Infrared rays have nothing to do with X-rays, UV rays or radar waves and are absolutely not harmful. On the contrary, infrared rays promote health. Everyone knows the warmth of the sun. It is invisible to the human eye, so it is not identical with its light and cannot be transmitted by the air.

The heat rays are absorbed directly by the objects they hit and then released back into the environment. In rooms with high infrared radiation, a feeling of warmth is already felt when the air is cooler.

Our sun is a perfect example of the special nature of infrared. The high proportion of infrared contained in the sun's rays is not perceived by humans as light, but as heat. You stand outside on a cold winter day. As long as we are in shadow or the sun is not shining, we freeze in the cold air. As soon as the sun sends its rays to the earth or we step out of the shade, we feel pleasantly warm in the cold outside. Infrared radiation that hits our skin is immediately converted into warmth.

It is also worth mentioning that since 1986 the Mir space station and probably also the ISS is heated by infrared radiation. As you can see, this technology has only been fully exploited in recent years, despite its long publicity.

Only the newly developed techniques made industrial production and private use of infrared radiation as full-surface heating possible.

Infrared has been used extensively in the medical field for years. It is effectively used in the area of muscle and joint therapies. You can learn more about this topic here or in the category "Healthy Living & Heating".
